Extended Wear Contact Lenses and Flexible Wear Contact Lenses
Flexible and extended wear contact lenses are soft lenses that can be worn for over 24 hours.
Flexible and extended wear contact lenses are made from a special permeable silicon hydrogel material. This allows enough oxygen to reach your eyes- even while you are sleeping!
Most flexible and extended wear contact lenses are disposable. In other words, you can throw them away (normally on weekly or monthly basis) and then insert a new fresh pair.
Disposing of flexible and extended wear contact lenses regularly helps to prevent the build up of deposits on the lenses. These deposits can cause eye infections and some vision problems.
We sell the following extended and flexible wear lenses:
Extended Contact Wear Lenses are Comfortable
Extended wear contact lenses deliver more oxygen to your cornea than any other type of lens. They also offer low levels of dehydration. This means that extended wear contact lenses are ideal for sports people, computer users and those prone to dry eyes.
Sleeping in Extended Wear Contact Lenses
Although extended wear contact lenses can be worn at night, sleeping in contact lenses doesn’t suit everyone. Therefore additional contact lens assessments are usually required to determine suitability and ensure ocular health.
Difference Between Flexible and Extended Wear Contact Lenses
Theses contact lenses can be worn all day and sometimes overnight (known as flexible wear) or all day and all night (known as extended wear) depending on practitioner recommendations
